# 🍄 Psilocybin Shows Promise for Bipolar II Depression

**Synopsis:** In a small study, 14 people with bipolar II depression received Psilocybin alongside psychotherapy. Depression scores improved, but 3 participants experienced notable psychiatric events, including suicidal thoughts or hypomania. The trial had no placebo group, so it cannot establish that Psilocybin caused the improvement.

**My take:** People with bipolar disorder are often excluded from Psychedelic trials because of the risk of triggering hypomania or mania. This study makes a case for researching that risk carefully, while showing why blanket claims that Psilocybin is safe for this group are premature. The next step is a larger controlled trial with close monitoring.
